Au fil des ans, nous nous sommes efforcés de développer une suite d’outils, comme nos sections "Top de l’actualité" et "Alerte info", qui permettent à chacun de trouver facilement des contenus publiés par des sources d’actualités crédibles. Aujourd’hui, nous sommes plus déterminés que jamais à fournir des informations de qualité fiables, tout particulièrement en périodes d’élections ou de troubles, ou lors de catastrophes naturelles.
Dans le paysage numérique actuel, les utilisateurs et utilisatrices recherchent de plus en plus des contenus différents, et les rédactions et journalistes évoluent afin de satisfaire leurs besoins. Aujourd’hui, nous proposons deux initiatives afin d’améliorer le parcours complet de recherche d’actualités sur YouTube.
Tout d'abord, nous lançons une page de lecture immersive pour les actualités sur YouTube. Cette nouvelle page regroupera les contenus de sources fiables dans divers formats afin de permettre aux utilisateurs et utilisatrices de la plateforme d'explorer en détail les différentes facettes d'un sujet d'actualité. Sur une seule et même page, ils pourront retrouver des vidéos à la demande, des vidéos longues, des diffusions en direct et des Shorts pertinents qui leur permettront de s’informer rapidement.
Sur la page d'accueil ou dans les résultats de recherche, il leur suffira de cliquer sur une vidéo avec une icône représentant un journal pour accéder à la page de lecture d'un sujet d'actualité spécifique. Cette fonctionnalité sera progressivement déployée sur mobile dans une quarantaine de pays, avant d'être disponible sur ordinateur et téléviseur. Nous sommes convaincus que cette nouvelle page permettra aux utilisateurs et utilisatrices d'accéder à un ensemble de points de vue variés et fiables sur les sujets d'actualité qui les intéressent.
Par ailleurs, nous lançons le Programme d'innovation pour les Shorts sur l'actualité. Cette initiative vise à encourager les organismes de presse à créer des Shorts en leur proposant des subventions et une assistance spécialisée. Pour l’instant, nous collaborons avec plus de 20 organismes dans 10 pays, auxquels nous avons accordé un total de 1,6 million de dollars de subvention. Nous sélectionnons des organismes qui proposent déjà un large éventail de vidéos longues sur YouTube et qui cherchent à améliorer leurs Shorts d’actualités ou à en créer plus. L'année prochaine, des spécialistes YouTube aideront des organismes de presse, comme Univision aux États-Unis, l'AFP en France et Mediacorp à Singapour, à élaborer une stratégie pour leurs Shorts et à définir de bonnes pratiques de production vidéo.
Nous avons déjà pu constater l’impact incroyable que peut avoir l’adoption des Shorts par les médias. L'objectif du Programme d'innovation pour les Shorts est de donner un coup de pouce aux éditeurs d'actualités innovants qui souhaitent commencer à exploiter les contenus courts, mais qui ne disposent pas des ressources nécessaires.Nous sommes impatients d’entendre leur point de vue sur les opportunités et les défis associés aux contenus courts, alors que nous travaillons ensemble pour soutenir un écosystème innovant de l’information.
Ces nouveautés soulignent la volonté de YouTube de mettre à disposition de sa communauté des contenus d'actualité fiables et complets en temps opportun, ainsi qu'à aider les éditeurs à tester les nouveaux formats de vidéos d'actualités.
