Innovation, nous vous donnons un aperçu du processus de conception de l'interface YouTube sur TV. Nous vous présentons également une nouvelle fonctionnalité qui a pour but d'offrir le meilleur de YouTube sur grand écran, d'optimiser l'expérience de visionnage et de la rendre encore plus interactive.
Grâce au lancement de l'application YouTube sur TV il y a 12 ans, les utilisateurs ont pu commencer à regarder leurs vidéos YouTube préférées sur un écran plus grand que leur ordinateur ou leur téléphone portable. En réponse à la popularité croissante des services de streaming et de YouTube sur TV, nous avons continué à améliorer cette expérience. En janvier 2022, les téléspectateurs regardaient en moyenne plus de 700 millions d'heures de contenu YouTube sur des téléviseurs chaque jour. Ils étaient plus de 18 millions en France en mai 2021 !
À l'heure où de plus en plus de personnes accèdent à YouTube sur leur téléviseur, notre équipe de concepteurs s'efforce d’ offrir le meilleur de YouTube sur grand écran tout en assurant une expérience simple, fluide et intuitive. Aujourd'hui, nous avons le plaisir de vous dévoiler une nouvelle fonctionnalité, qui vous permet d'exploiter directement le potentiel de YouTube sur votre téléphone tout en continuant à regarder des contenus sur votre téléviseur.
Une conception adaptée aux téléviseurs
YouTube propose à sa communauté de plus de deux milliards d’utilisateurs à travers le monde, un ensemble riche de fonctionnalités : interactions avec les vidéos par le biais des "J'aime" et des commentaires, soutien aux créateurs via les abonnements, les souscriptions aux chaînes, les Super Stickers, etc.
Nous voulons offrir aux utilisateurs TV l'expérience YouTube qu’ils apprécient tant - une ambition qui apporte son lot de défis en termes de conception. Notre équipe chargée des études a passé des centaines d'heures à analyser la façon dont les spectateurs utilisent YouTube sur leur téléviseur. Nous sommes conscients que l'utilisation d'une télécommande est parfois fastidieuse, que la plupart des téléviseurs n'intègrent pas de navigateur Web et que la lecture de vidéos en plein écran laisse peu de place à l'affichage de fonctionnalités.
Nous avons tenu compte de ces contraintes pour concevoir une expérience intuitive sans faire l'impasse sur les fonctionnalités YouTube favorites des internautes. À cette fin, nous nous sommes basés sur une donnée intéressante :
plus de 80 % des utilisateurs regardent la télévision avec leur téléphone à la main. En creusant un peu plus, nous avons remarqué que non seulement les téléspectateurs ouvraient simultanément l'application mobile YouTube, mais qu'ils réalisaient également plus de la moitié des actions d'engagement (par exemple, aimer, s'abonner) sur leur téléphone, tout en regardant les vidéos sur le téléviseur.
Forts de ce constat, nous avons cessé de vouloir intégrer à tout prix ces fonctionnalités sur téléviseur et avons plutôt cherché à davantage lier les expériences sur téléphone et sur grand écran.
Une nouvelle façon d'utiliser YouTube sur téléviseur
Dès aujourd'hui, nous lançons une nouvelle fonctionnalité vous permettant d'associer facilement votre téléviseur à votre téléphone iOS ou Android. De cette façon, les utilisateurs peuvent pleinement interagir avec leurs contenus préférés sur YouTube, tout en continuant à les regarder sur grand écran.
Pour profiter de cette fonctionnalité, ils doivent être connectés au même compte YouTube sur leur téléphone et sur leur téléviseur. Il suffit d’ouvrir l'application YouTube sur leur téléviseur, puis faire de même sur leur téléphone. Il faut ensuite cliquer sur "Associer" dans la fenêtre qui s'ouvre automatiquement.
Une fois le téléphone associé au téléviseur, le téléspectateur peut interagir directement avec la vidéo qu’il regarde en se servant de son téléphone : c'est simple et pratique ! Ils peuvent ainsi lire les descriptions de vidéos, ajouter des commentaires, partager des vidéos avec un ami, soutenir ses créatrices et créateurs préférés en envoyant un Super Chat ou en souscrivant à leur chaîne… Et ce, tout en regardant des vidéos sur leur téléviseur.
YouTube sur téléviseur : nos projets pour l'avenir
Nous avons encore de nombreux projets pour renforcer l'interactivité dans les salons. Avec le lancement de cette nouvelle fonctionnalité, le téléphone devient un outil polyvalent et interactif, qui élargit le champ des possibles sur son téléviseur.
Nous commençons déjà à tester de nouveaux concepts pour les pages de lecture des vidéos afin d'intégrer d'autres fonctionnalités YouTube uniques sur téléviseur (afficher des produits apparaissant dans les vidéos et les acheter, par exemple). À vous de décider quand vous souhaitez utiliser votre téléphone pour interagir !
